Wedding budget calculator

What may your wedding cost, and where does it go?

Fill in your total budget and the number of guests, and split it over the items of a wedding in Belgium. Per item a fixed amount, or a price per guest that grows with your guest list. You see straight away what is left and what your wedding costs per guest.

Your numbers

Count them separately if the caterer has a children's price. Everything stays in this browser. Nothing is sent to us.

How to split a wedding budget

Start with the total, not the venue

First agree together on what your wedding may cost in total, and who contributes what. That amount is the frame; you hold every quote against it, instead of adding up afterwards what it became.

Are parents or grandparents paying a part? Note that amount too. In Ringske you set who pays each expense, so you know afterwards who advanced what.

Fixed costs and costs per guest

Part of the budget does not depend on how many people come: the photographer, the rings, the clothes, the DJ. Another part grows with every guest: the caterer's food, drinks and staff, sometimes the venue hire per person, the favours.

That is why you can choose per item between a fixed amount and a price per guest. Change the number of guests and you see right away what it costs. Many caterers charge a lower price for children; fill it in separately.

Replace estimates with quotes

At the start every amount is an estimate. As soon as a quote comes in, replace the estimate with the real amount. What remains under "still to allocate" is what you can really still spend.

Keep a buffer for what nobody sees coming: an extra hour at the venue, the music licence, a forgotten rental. How big is up to you; just put it as an amount under Extras.

Deposit now, balance later

Almost every vendor asks for a deposit when you book and the balance shortly before or after the wedding. A budget that only knows totals does not tell you when you need how much.

In Ringske every expense gets its payments with a due date. The daily summary by email puts them in your inbox in time, and the budget shows what is paid and what is still due.

Questions

How much does a wedding in Belgium cost?

It depends mostly on the number of guests and on what you provide per guest in food and drinks: those items grow with the guest list, the rest stays about the same. We deliberately give no average amount. Fill in your own quotes or estimates here, and change the number of guests to see what that changes.

What is a cost per guest?

A price the caterer, the venue or another vendor charges per person, for example for the dinner or the drinks. Choose "per guest" for that item: the amount is multiplied by the number of adults, and children count at the children's price if you fill one in.

Is my calculation stored anywhere?

Only in this browser, so it is still there when you come back. Nothing goes to our servers. "Clear everything" removes it.

Can I use my calculation in Ringske?

Yes. Create a free account in the same browser and open the budget: Ringske offers to take over the total budget and the amounts per item. Whatever you already filled in there stays.

Why are there no suggested amounts?

A standard split in percentages usually comes from American or Dutch figures and says little about your venue, your caterer or your guest list. Better an empty field than a number pretending to be yours.
